James Botti and James Kaplan were band directors in the Rochester Area School District who observed their students could be making greater strides with one-on-one private lessons.  In May of 1962, Botti and Kaplan rented a small building to teach studio lessons.  This was the beginning of Brighton Music Center.

In April 2011, Brad Wittmer and Richard Schiemer bought Brighton Music Center. Richard Schiemer graduated from Mount Union College with BA in Music.  Brad brought the practical knowledge of his own sound business and recording studio to Brighton Music Center.
Brad and Richard realized that at the essence of Brighton Music Center is instrumental music education. Brighton Music Center is a proud member of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). Brighton Music Center offers the best brands in musical instruments: Conn-Selmer, King, Yamaha, Jupiter, Bach, Eastman, Sherl and Roth, Shen and Knilling. Brighton Music Center offers the only rental program with a four-month trial. Renting an instrument accumulates credit for THREE YEARS which can be applied to the purchase of a new instrument. Brighton Music Center rewards customers for their loyalty and dedication to music.
